Bryston Remote Changes
« on: 24 Apr 2009, 04:15 pm »
MEMO: To all Bryston Customers
SUBJECT: Bryston BR-2 Multi- Function Remote Control

May 2009

As of May, 2009 Bryston will utilize the recently introduced Bryston BR2 multi-product hand-held remote control as the optional remote for all Bryston products with remote capability. The prior generation of dedicated remotes for each individual product will no longer be available. Offering only one remote provides Bryston with a more cost effective remote control solution.

Price reduction: The BR2 remote will now be available for $350 MSRP reduced from the introductory price $500 MSRP.

Complete information on the BR2 remote can be found here:
http://bryston.com/BrystonSite05/08/BR2_REL.pdf

Products with which the BR2 can be utilized:

·BCD-1 CD Player – all functions
·BDA-1 External DAC – all functions
·BP-6 Preamplifier – volume/mute only
·BP-16 Preamplifier – all functions
·BP-26/25 Preamplifier – volume/mute/phase only
·SP-2 Preamplifier – volume/mute only
·B-60R Integrated Amplifier – volume/mute only
·B-100 Integrated Amplifier – all functions

The BP26 preamplifier will no longer include the simple (volume/mute only) remote. The BR2 will be the only remote OPTION for this product.

The only product that will come standard with a BR2 remote is the BCD-1 CD PLAYER.

This will also provide the customer with a single remote that can control most Bryston products. Please change your Bryston price lists dated January 2009 to reflect these changes.

James Tanner

Makes a lot of sense to me.  I'm sure manufacturing several different remotes wasn't very cost effective.  I'm also sure that just about everyone would rather the BR2 anyway.

I like mine, she lights up and everything, even in the dark :o.
Seriously the BR-2 came with my 26 and she takes care of everything(very handy).
the backlighting is a excellent color same as the BCD-1 remote.
Nicely laid out ect.

Does this mean the list price for the BP-26 will be reduced now that the remote is optional and if so what is the revised list price

Hi SFOX,

Probably not as we are close to having to increase prices on some products (the BP26 preamp being one) so my hope is we can just leave the BP26 preamp where it is.

Hi All,

I just wanted to let everyone know that if you have the new Bryston BR2 remote you can use the 'Previous, Next, Play, Pause and Stop' buttons on the Bryston remote if your using the 'USB' output from your computer into the Bryston BDA-1 External DAC to control your Playlist(s).

It works even if you are using other digital outs from your computer at the same time - like the optical on the MAC or the SPDIF, AES EBU, on a sound card.

Hi  James,

Will the 7/14B and or BCD-1 be effected by upcoming price increases and when do you expect them to hit.  It appears several of us are in late stages of buying processes and might want to get moving in view of this news.

Thanks

Hi,

As best I can tell the CD player will not be affected but the 7B, 14B and 28B will be.
