Tri-amping 2 6bsst2 or a pair of 7bsst2
« on: 24 Apr 2009, 12:26 am »
Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone has experimented with these 2 types of setups and what the benefits of both would be or if one is superior to the other?
I'am in the position to do either one and am curious which one i would benefit more with. This will be a dedicated 2 channel system only.
I cannot hear any of the 2 setups as my dealer would never bring in Brystons pricier amps so this is why i ask of you.

Thanks in advance.

Hi James,

Have you tried tri-amplification with a pair of your 6BSST's.
If you have, was it better than just using a pair of 7B's?

I saw this mentioned on the Bryston website under 6b section and am curious about the results.

Thanks,

Hi,

Its a tough question because a lot will depend on the specific speaker drivers and its crossover design. Generally I will always opt for a more powerful amp over a smalled amp driving independent drivers PASSIVELY.

Thanks James for your reply. Yes, the setup would be a passive tri-amp configuration.
