Yes, I was paraphrasing (I didn't have tape running to record his comments) but he DID use the term "transparent". The guy is a musician, and knows a lot about pro-sound setups and is familiar w/ audio jargon.
It was pretty cool that he had no idea the subs were working. He thought it was all coming from the monitors.
I still wonder if I'm one of the few weirdos running OB bass w/ conventional main speakers. Never got any feedback on previous post about that. I think a sealed monitor like the Merlin is a good match.
I hate to bring up the oft debated term 'break in', but w/ a month or so on the drivers, they seem like they hit harder and play lower before reaching their limit than they did when new. But I'm willing to admit I may have just got the parameters dialed in and adjusted to their unique presentation.
As I've said before. I couldn't be happier w/ the outcome of this experiment. Sure, there are far better rigs out there than mine....more transparent, better dynamics....well, you name it. But there's absolutely nothing WRONG w/ mine now. It's all 'sins of omission'. I can finally just listen to music.
