Struttin around the henhouse

As I've read on audiocircle, what other people are using for prepros pre ect.
I could only imagine what their systems sounded like.Awhile back I did get to audition
Bryston's top pre BP-26,and she had me in awe and I only had her for a couple of days.
We'll now my own BP-26 and MPS-2 are waiting for me to fire them up(which I'm doing this afternoon)
Man,I love when superb pieces get me all charged up,just like a lil ol rooster strutting around the henhouse.
FANTASTIC,I think I'll take the day off and start connecting aa.

If you think its bad knowing that its sitting at home waiting for you, its not as bad as what I had to go through...

When I got my B60 (second hand), I had to pick it up at UPS on my way in to work.  I didn't want to leave it in the car, so I brought it in the office with me.  I stared at it for 9 hours.  I tried several times to leave early that day.

Yes,only I was taking a friend in to check out some Magnepan 3.6s at the store I usually deal with.
My friend said it'd be funny if the 26 was in,sure enough.
Anyway to top it off he came with the Magnepans(they do sound excellent).
I was measuring the width with my arm to see if they would fit in my room(NOT QUITE :().
They were run by all Bryston gear. The sound was AWESOME.I think I got to seriously think
about a bigger house,Then Maggys or PMC .

drummermitchell, Suggestion for you .....Try and use a a pair of Xlr Cables to connect your BDA-1 to your Bp26, use either Balanced 1 or 2
on the Bp26 Enjoy !!!  I find a Much more Dynamic Clean Crisp sound using XLR's

Hi Robert, just peelin myself from the wall(SPLs),just waitin on the BDA-1.
I'm going by what James suggested an all out assault with XLRs(actually have a pair coming.
I have to get a custom set made up 2XYs,5 meters(for the subs and 28s),
and XLRS on BCD-1, BDA-1.I guess I'll have a couple of Cardas grcs rcas for sale.
even the wife didn't saymuch :thumb:.i';ll be calling bryston tomorrow for the Ys.
just wanted to be sure i still have som spare change left .

drummermitchell, James Tanner Helped me with my Set Up, All of my Cables are from Bryston. James as always said Go XLR all the way !
My 2  4bsst2's are Balanced (XLR) My BCD-1 when I purchased it (James had said Robert go Balanced XLR) use Balanced 1 or Balanced 2
on The BP26.... Then When I purchased my BDA-1 in Feb 2009, James again had said, Connect the BDA-1 Using Xlr Cables  use Balanced 1 or Balanced 2. So I did...  So I purchased from Bryston Digital Cables Spdif, esbu XLR 1 Meter long. drummermitchell, You can still Keep at least 1 pair of Cardas Rca Cables, for the BCD-1. You can use the Digital out puts from the BCD-1 to the BDA-1, as well the analog section
of the BCD-1.

Before I purchased my BDA-1, I had my BCD-1 connected to BP26 using XLR Cables from the Analog section of the BCD-1 the sound was Great !

The BDA-1 is connected XLR Balanced to BP26 .....

Enjoy it only gets Better !

Hi Robert,

Can you please share some of the sound experience with bi-amping the Paradigm Signature 8V2's with the 4BSST2's?

Thanks,

Robert D

mkaiser, The set up is callled Horizontal, Left Channel BP26 XLR Balanced to 4Bsst2 Right Channel BP26 XLR Balanced to 4Bsst2.
The sound is Split in Stereo at 100 %.
The Paradigm Signature 8 v2's are Paradigm's Top speaker. With my set up and the Bryston 4Bsst2's per speaker they just Sing !!!!
The Highs are great, The Mids are good forward up front, The deep Bass is Great. These Paradigm's are a solid made speaker at 100 Lbs each. I'm as happy as I can be. James Tanner helped me with my Set up of the Bryston gear.

mkaiser, James Tanner had asked me a little while back what type of speakers I was using. I had found this article on the net.

Thiel, Paradigm, or Legacy?

March 13, 2009

Editor,

I read your review of Thiel's 2.4SE loudspeakers. I need help. Have you heard the Paradigm Signature S8? How about Legacy’s Focus HDs? If it were your money and you were starting a system, what loudspeakers would you start your system with? Any help would be great.

Rob

The Paradigms and Thiels would both be at the top of my list. As to which one I’d choose if I were you, I think it depends on the exact application and your preferences. I have not heard the newest Signature S8 v.2, but I did review the S6 v.2. I do believe the S8 v.2 would deliver a punchier, higher-SPL sound that would be suited to larger rooms and home theater. That’s not to say the Paradigms aren’t fine music reproducers as well. They are, but they have a distinct advantage over the Thiels with their multiple bass drivers when it comes to output capability. The Thiels are simply fantastic all around, too, but produce a more wraparound soundstage. If you value three-dimensional music reproduction, the Thiels are the champs. In the end, both speakers would be on my shortlist. You will be thrilled with either I’m sure. I don’t have any experience with the Legacy speakers....Jeff Fritz

Robert,I believe they left monday(for my BCD-1)and yesterday I ordered a set of XLR-Y cables,
as for now I'm coming out of the 26 preouts(rca) going to each 28(rca) and 2 subs(rca).
and of course the tweeking never ends as I picked up a 10B-sub X-over(2 months ago),which I want to try a little later when I've settled down.In that set up I'll need just straight XLRS(no Ys).the extra cabling cost me more but I have to know which I like better, split the full range signal with Ys or put in the 10B-sub.
I keep reading John Potis(six moon's review)on the 10b-sub),and judging by the speakers he was using ,they had passive X-overs in them ,so this should be interesting as he swears by inserting the 10B,that he got SUPERB results.

Thanks Robert for your reply.
I have extensive listening with Bryston 4bsst and Paradigm Signature s6 and 8v2 just not in a bi-amp setup. The synergy between the 2 manufacturers is awesome and you did very well in your chosing.

 Robert,Xlrs arrived,these are going on the bcd-1.
I would put them on the amps but I need the Ys as I have my subs on those also.
SOURCE FIRST I believe.

Mark,  One 4Bsst for 2 sets of Speakers ??? Let me know your set up, when you have some Time. The Paradigm S8 v2's with the Bryston BDA-1 is probably the best sound for my ears That I have Herd. BCD-1 Digital out Puts Connected to the BDA-1 Balanced to BP26
