Hmmm.  I think I'd take:

1)  Modwright modified transporter
2)  Supratek grange dual pre-amp
3)  Pair of big Atma-sphere OTL monoblocks
4)  Classic Audio Reproductions Model T1 speakers.
5)  A room large enough to house the Classic Audio Reproductions Model T1 speakers.

• Hire professional acoustics company
• Listen to existing equipment in ass-kicking room to see if any upgrades are actually necessary or not.
• Try to purchase the rights for certain albums I like so I could get my hands on the multi-track tapes and re-mix them.

I don't particularly have any gear lust but if I had some serious scratch I would build:

1) 300B preamp
2) 7ch tube theater including a 300w tube monoblock sub amp (and required A/C system to cool said room)
3) A mono SE EL84 amp/speaker/toilet paper roll holder in the bathroom 
4) I'd buy some of those silly 1k+ drivers just to hear them
5) A basement under my basement so I could hit a button and have all the furniture disappear so the HT room could be used for other activities.

I like nathanm's list with slight modification:

• Land
• House... (using one of my designs)
• with the help of a professional acoustic company to incorporate separate SOTA home theater and 2-channel listening rooms.
• Then equipment - lots of auditioning.
• Enjoy.

As far as equipment goes...
2-channel - probably something along the lines of Chord electronics driving YG Acoustics speakers.
Home theater - JBL Synthesis and a minimum 12' widescreen.

Hmm.   For me, if all things were possible, I would like to audition and compare a luandry list of analogue gear and determine for myself what I prefer.  Nowadays it’soooo difficult to even hear a different cartridge or arm much less audition it in your own system.
