Based upon Rob Babcocks comments :o , I purchased all of the Rush remasters.

They do in fact live up to the hype! :D

I am able to better discern lyrics.  Better instrument separation.  Better clarity and dynamics.  Fuller sound.

They cost me [US funds]  $8.99 each. 8)

They are 100%  worth it! They are completely better than the originals, there is NO CONTEST  here at all!

I have rediscovered Rush, and now listen intently to the same music, but with far superior sonics.  SONIC BLISS!!!! :!:

RUSH fans: toss out your old RUSH cd's and get the remasters...NOW!!!

Could you elaborate what these remasters look like i.e. how they're advertised or packaged so I can find the right ones?
Are these SACD or regular redbook?
Thanks for the help!
A fellow Rush fan!

Glad you like them, IanATC.  The sound is stellar, and of course the music rocks.  Just wish there was a Roll The Bones remaster.

Mr. Bill, it's been awhile since I bought mine, but I think the package has a silver sticker that states the disc is a remaster.  I don't have every disc, but the ones I do have are in clear boxes w/ "Rush Remasters" or something like that visible thru the box.  You won't have any trouble picking em out.

Also,
Remasters tend to have late 1990's release dates.  IE:  Moving Pictures was originally 1980 or 1981.  Even though it did not say at the Tower site, the 1997 version is a remaster.

It says "RUSH remaster" on the front hinge of the jewel case.

It is not an SACD.

Interesting.  I'd like to see some old\new waveforms on these.  I remember Rush was one of the bands whose songs were referenced on one of those 'maximum loudness' articles.

Yeah, read that last nite. :shake:   I wonder what really happened?  Hopefully this gets sorted out without Rush having to look for a new guitarists.

Still, though Lifeson is a good guitarist, he's the least "crucial" member of the band.

Hi,

I am totally ignorant of this band and you guys have caught my attention by your continual posts.

What type of music do they play?

Mind you i feel sorry for the Female police officer, she will probably have to have blood tests for six months now.

Regards

I guess "progressive rock" is the best label.  I'd also loosely classify them as heavy metal as well.  Since Rush is the great granddaddy of all prog rock bands, you may not have ever listened to that genre, but Magnitude 9, Dream Theater, and Symphony X are other bands in a similar vein.

Some of Rushes biggest hits are "Tom Sawyer", "Time Stand Still" and "Big Money."

For the new Rush listener, I'd recommend Chronicals as a good place to begin, or The Spirit of Radio for a little cheaper, single disc.
