Mike Bloomfield on Nick Gravenites' "Moon Tune" cut on the "My Labors" release - two burning solos on this one. If you like Mike, you NEED this CD. But make sure you get the release of this CD which has extra tracks, 11 in all (see Amazon). You don't want to be without the added track "Blues on a Westside". All the studio sides are allegedly backed by Quicksilver Messenger Service and live tracks are from the sessions "Live at Bill Graham's Fillmore West". Killer stuff.  :thumb:

bummrush & martyo - if you like Boz's "Loan Me a Dime", check out the writer/originator of the song, Fenton Robinson. This song is on his "Somebody Loan Me a Dime" CD. Excellent guitar and great tunes. You WILL like it!  :thumb:

The Vaughan Brothers - Family Style (1990)

Every cut has some great blues playing. The vinyl has wide uncompressed dynamics with tight punchy bass.
Mastered by Bob Ludwig at Masterdisk.

GregC - Steve Hunter is very good, isn't he. I have his "The Deacon" - an excellent CD which requires mucho volumos!! :guitar:

You know, I had no idea that Prince could play the guitar like this.  I quite enjoyed the solo, and thought the sound he got out of his telecaster was great.  But then I went back and listened to Jeff Healey playing the same song.  This guy was the real deal.

Prince probably makes a better video though

I've always liked "Buck's Boogie" played by Donald Roeser on the album "The Guitars that Destroyed the World." (There were a lot of other good solos on this album too.)

One that just slays me every time I hear it is Pat Metheny from the 80/81 album, at the end of the first cut "Two Folk Songs".

IIRC, after Charlie Haden plays a lovely, longing folksy solo, Pat comes in w/ an acoustic guitar w/ a somewhat (to me) mexican/southwestern solo of uncompromising beauty and grace. Nothing too technical, but it cuts to my soul for some reason. Anyone else familiar with this gem?

Cannot recall exactly which tunes, but John Mark, on John Mayall's "The Turning Point", plays several outstanding acoustic finger-style guitar solos throughout the CD. Really fabulous stuff.

Also, Sue Foley, on her "Love Comin' Down" CD, she plays both acoustic and electric guitar on the "Mediterranean Breakfast" instrumental cut. She solos throughout on both instruments and does a great job.
