Installing spikes?
« on: 9 Apr 2009, 01:55 pm »
Okay I finally built the bases for my OB/7's but am wondering about the spikes. I think speakers look kinda cool with them but I have no idea if they improve the SQ or not?
I also am very unsure on how to install them, do you just drill a hole slightly smaller than spike post and hammer in?
Please advise. Anyone with install results or pics. Thanks

Edit: I went thru alot of pages and never found pics of GR brass spikes installed, anyone using them?

Just drill a hole the size of the inner section on the insert.

I picked up a metric threaded bolt from the hardware store that fits in the insert. I screw that into the insert and then beat it in by hitting the head of the bolt.

It is pretty easy actually.

The spikes will stabilize it a little bit and keep it from moving back and forth on the floor. This will tighten up the bass response and give you a cleaner overall sound.
