The Beatles - Remastered!!

Finally!

Red flag! There is no mention of George or Giles Martin involvement, just "EMI engineers". Hopefully they are able to eek out the same SQ as on the "Love" disc. Only 5 months to wait.  :banghead:

I am a huge fan of the Beatles, but after reading the article it sounds like it just may be a case of too little too late.  I guess we will have to see when they come out. Thanks for posting that.

What a coincidence, last night I happened to listen to the entire Love CD, and wondered if there were any other Beatles CD's that were mastered as well. I was going to post here, did a search, didn't find much. I ended up reading a bit on wiki about the Love album production and the Beatles in general.  Then I was looking through NYT.com and saw the article that konut linked. So I figured I'd wait. Then this thread pops up...I knew it would.

I am not a big Beatles fan, but on occasion like to listen to them. I definitely acknowledge the superb work that George and Giles Martin did on Love. So I will wait and see too I'd like to hear more complete songs instead of the excerpts in Love-though that project is unique and had a different purpose than a typical album-and sounds great.

I just hope they make it as loud as possible, that's all I really care about.

The news broke early this morning, then those of us subscribing to beatles.com got their email around 10am.   :thumb:  The Hoffman forum had almost 2000 posts to the thread in 12 hours!  One problem, folks posted the same press release about 40 times (literally).  As I posted over there:
* EMI mastering group have good pedigree (Living In the Material World remaster is considered the best Beatle-oriented remaster to this point) and are specifically saying they used only about 5 min of no-noise (can you say "Martha My Dear intro") of over 550 min total, and little limiting (including none for the mono box).  The site's samples sound very very promising
* masters are going to 24/192, so my $.02 is that EMI should release them in the native hi-rez, downloadable at some point.    (I would even by ok with Blu-Ray, like Neil's archives, but the licensing there would take months, likely).
* the mono box idea is probably a good one, as it allows for collectors and purists to grab both, but run-of-the-mill fans will buy just the stereo box
* we can only hope they sound as good as Love (obviously not remixed though), don't sound anything like "1", and finally give us the non-Dexterized catalog we've all been waiting for (assuming you don't count Dr. E's needledrops, etc.).

Hi All,

I am sitting here listening to "Love" spin on the SOTA. While my opinion hasn't changed (I hate it) my hopes for the remasters are high. It sounds really good!
