Another newbie headphone user joining the group.
I have a Yamamoto HA-02 headphone amp and ATH W1000 on the way from Japan.  :D :D
Can't wait to experience the sound.

Well that's diving in the right way.  A system designed and voiced to sound good together.
Do share when they arrive.

I'll share my impression after it's fully break-in. The amp should be here next week.

Happy threads Ed :thumb:.

I'll be dropping by hoping to get a recommendation for something in the $150-$200 range.  Just thinking about getting back into a set of cans.

I always recommend grabbing a set of Senn HD 540. They come in a few different models but have the same sonic signature, depending on shape and model (gold type thing) they range from about $50 to $500, i got my third set a few weeks ago, mint for just over $100, thats over 20 years of the same headphones and now I drive them with 300B tubes, heaven!. Their flagship quite a while ago now, but many still think Senn's finest offering.

Cheers,
Ian

Hi Ed,
Congrats on your new facilitator-hood!  :thumb:

To celebrate, I'd like to tell a story-

On my way home from church, I went to a gun shop where a politician was speaking about expensive audio cables, and...

Oh, nevermind

I got a pair of headphones at a gun shop once, but I could never figure out how to plug them in to my stereo.

Give new meaning to the term "noise canceling headphones".

...but a high return.
I bought Grado SR-125's for monitoring reel to reel taping sessions and once and awhile I put them on to listen to vinyl on my system. Nice sound for the money. I really don't need to wear headphones as my living arrangement doesn't require silent running! These phones make me happy...period.
