I'm guessing you're not too familiar with pro-DJ gear then, right?  Pitch controls have been on those machines for a long time.  Even better, pitch control on a turntable is really a speed control.  Pitch and speed are inseparably related.  But, on CD players, there is no need to necessarily tie these to functions together.  Many machines will allow you to adjust pitch and/or speed.  Clever, huh?

Some of da latest pro CDPs even allow you to do scratch and dub effects on CDs just like the the DJs at your local dance club.

Is it just an urban myth that radio stations speed up CD's so more tunes will fit into a given hour???? I suppose it might even be considered more lively sounding. Why, my local station once played Led Zeppelin's "Stairway to Heaven" in a mere three minutes (though Plant sounded a little Chipmunky). :D

My 5-year-old Denon cassette deck has a pitch control.
What's the price of the Panny CD player?

The Technics is $700 obo  (MSRP $2600). It's on Agon.  Since I meant this only as an interesting tidbit,  I didn't want to make it seem like an ad.

Usual disclaimer: I'm not the seller, I don't know the seller, yada yada yada.
