phono input on the Tempest
« on: 4 Apr 2009, 01:48 pm »
For any Tempest owners out there, I noticed that on the back of it there are two sets of unlabeled rca jacks for the phono input, as well as a toggle switch for MM/MC, and I'm not quite sure how the setup works.  Can someone explain?  Thanks.

I'm fairly sure the following is correct - Use either set of jacks.  Switch between MM and MC (toggle) depending on the needs of your cart/system.  I think it is a good idea to power down before connecting and/or moving the toggle switch or  :duh:.  Hope this helps.

Not so sure about that...I remember the far left inputs(viewed from the front)  were the MC and the right MM, with the switch as a selector between them, left for MC right for MM.
Been almost a year since I used mines, its possible I could be mistaken.

I will yield to your words of caution - after reading them, I'm not so sure about my original post.  I upgraded to a separate phono stage some time back so  have not used the Tempest phono inputs for a while.  Best to call Klaus, or at a minimum treat the jacks the same way the toggle switch is set-up.  Looking from the backon mine, MM on the left and MC on the right.  Don.

Thanks for the info.  Sounds like mjosef's is the safest interpretation.
