Does anyone have a recipe for a DIY headphone extension cable? I really don't want to buy a new long Sennheiser replacement cable and would be more inclined to get 10' of good bulk cable and put on some decent Neutric connectors.

You could use some Canare L-4E that has four stands as an inexpensive cable to build a headphone cable.   Most of my customers building something are using the Cardas 4x24 which is the same basic cable as used in the headphone cable but uses a different jacket.   It is also used in the phono cable I build.
