Not sure exactly how ma used to make a leg, but I do know she cut a bunch of small slits all over and inserted a raw, peeled, clove of garlic into each slit. Covered it (lightly) with rosemary leaves. Then roasted it in the oven in a pan with 2-inch sides. Not sure what else she did to it, if anything. It was awesome!  :thumb:

^  That would be it roast it at 325 until internal temp is 140 remove and cover.  Save the drippings in the pan put on stove top with a cup of red wine, salt, pepper to taste, bring to boil to degrease.  Mix 2 tablespoons of flour with a cup of water and add, stirring to boil, add more flour to thicken as necessary.  You'll have a great gravey.  :drool:

Now I have to go shopping for a leg of lamb.

This is the picture that tortures me quite often. Seems like the "random" selection of images favors this little beauty. aa
It's exactly what I'd like to have on my dinner table (soon), but am unsure how to accomplish:

{Thanks to the NY guys for the pic}

Not too difficult, most recipe books have it.
Pre-heat oven to 350f
Trim the rack to your liking.  Some like all the fat on, some 100% trimmed.  In your photo, I think that most of the fat has been trimmed.
Season the rack – salt& pepper all around.  If completely trimmed out massage with oil first, I use EVOO.
In a HOT heavy pan, cast iron works best for me, sear the lamb.  You want the color to be a deep mahogany, none of the wimpy light brown.
Put rack in pan in the oven, ribs up, for approximately 15 min.
Internal temp should be 120-125 for medium rare.
Take out & put on a wooden board & cover with foil, rest for 10 min.  VERY IMPORTANT.
Deglaze the pan w/red wine & demi-glace, mount the butter & serve
