These look identical to the "California Monitor" but in a curved cabinet. AirCirc tweeter right?

Nice stuff Rick.  Again, I love the choice of drivers.  How do the SS Slit Cones work in that box?  Where are you tuning the port?

Someone made them and you can buy them, Rick Craig is the owner/designer of Selah Audio.

I would love those in a HIGH GLOSS Piano Black.

You think these would best my Swan D2.1SE Monitor? I picked the Swan over Ascend Sierra, Totem Rainmakers and Dynaudio Focus 110

Also price them with the RAAL ribbons but without boxes both ways.

Thanks,

Ray

Much better drivers than in any of those, there should be no contest imho. However I haven't heard any of them, Rick probably has.

The cost of the drivers doesn't automatically dictate the quality of the sound, but assuming two speakers are competently designed and built, one with drivers costing several multiples of the other will usually offer greater resolution and control. The Swan D2.1SE uses the $23 Hi Vi QR1 tweeter and the $72 Hi Vi D6.8 woofer, both very good drivers. The Scan Speak monitor uses Scan Speak Revelator drivers that retail for about $225/ea. Assuming Rick is as good a designer as the person who designed the Swan D2.1, the Scan Speak Monitor should sound much better. But it is a sealed design and it reqires a subwoofer for full range bass response. I assume a ported version could be built using the Madisound Md38T boxes.

Fred,
What is your opinion regarding substituting the RAAL's for the Scan Speaks in these and the TRT's?

Sorry, Ray, but I haven't heard the RAAL's. Rick has heard both and I'm sure he has an opinion.

He may be a bit biased since he favors ribbons over all tweeters?  How 'bout it Rick?  How do the RAAL's compare to the Scan Speaks?
