They are extremely effective at filtering out grunge and I would highly suggest you experiment with them. They will definitely open up the soundstage and let you hear deeper into the recording. An extremely worthwhile tweak that I would rate higher than the Acoustic Revive RR-77 and Acoustic Revive RGC-24 ground conditioner tweak (which I also use).
