Question for Rick regarding speaker voicing
« on: 22 Mar 2009, 09:59 pm »
Rick, when you voice a speaker, do you do so with the grilles on or off.  With my Tanzanites, I tend to hear better coherency and natural sound with the grilles on.  I was wondering if this is a direct reflection of how the speaker model was originally voiced.

Voiced with the grilles off.

They were probably voiced for a slightly off-axis flat response. If you listen to them toed-in at 45° or very close together try spreading them apart and toeing them out to almost parallel. That's my theory, correct me if I'm wrong Rick.

I aim them straight ahead for voicing and crossover design.
