Does anybody make a copper 1/4" stereo plug?
« on: 20 Mar 2009, 04:33 pm »
Does anybody know of a 1/4" stereo phone plug that is made of copper and either bare or direct gold plated -- i.e., no brass, nickel, rhodium or silver?

I thought Cardas and Vampiire made one at one time, but I can't seem to find them anymore.

Thanks,

Jim

P.S. -- Right now the best I have found is the Furutech fp-709, but I'd still be interested in a copper-only plug if it exists.

I think the main reason for not finding any copper plus is because copper is too soft. If you look around how many contacts are made of copper?

Look for G&H plugs.  Only the central contact is copper as far as I know.
This is where I buy mine.  Don't expect audiophile pricing,  :nono: think starving musician. :thumb:

Just curious, why do you need copper?

Dan,

I'll take a look at the one you mentioned -- thanks.

Peranders, just because I dislike the sound of nickel plated brass, which 99% of all 1/4" plugs seem to be, even if they are gold plated over that.  Nickel just sounds harsh and edgy to me, and the less of it, the better, even though in some circumstances it seems to be the only choice.

Really, I should just use a pair of good RCAs and be done iwith it.  It really doesn't have to serve any purposes but mine.
