I've used www.zshare.net in the past.  Works great for large files, and it's free...

Cool BikeWNC, have you got the pic in a gallery some where for online viewing, I would like to see a few.

Very nice!!  Would love to have the 5D mkII....... but for now, the orig. 5D will have to make do (and that's NOT a bad thing!! .... :D )

Did my first Job with the new 5D today.

I love it!!! great with skin tones and contrast
I found the old 5D too flat in colours- It is a good camera but once you've used a H3 with a 31MP digital back you start seeing a lot of problems with 5D files.
The 40D was nice and contrasty but colours were always not right and it was crap with dark detail. It also had lots of trouble reproducing reds.

This image was shot with the 5D mark 2 with a 85mm 1.8 lens. lighting was a monoblock with a beauty dish and honeycomb

So what would you describe as "crap" in the L series of cannon lenses
Mr C

I didnt mention L series lenses.  Not seen a bad one, though I'm sure there are average ones :P

WOW!  $6100?  The conversion from USD to Aus would be about $4000.  Why so much?  Can you buy it from the States, say from B&Hphoto?  They have warranty service but I'm not sure how it would work to Australia.  Maybe there would be an import duty that would negate any savings.

Yea the duty kicks in at $1200 AUS + GST. It does work out slightly cheaper, but postage is huge now from the US. Anyway we have just picked up a Nikon D700. We got the body only for $4000, and have ordered a 24-70 F2.8 ED lense $2700.We should have the lens by the middle of next week, so we are just playing with the body for now. More later aa

I don't think you've settled at all.  The D700 is a great camera from all that I've read and if I didn't have many Canon L lenses I may have gone that way too.  In many ways it is a better camera than the 5D2, it lacks overall resolution though that is often overplayed.  Enjoy!

Did another shoot today with the new 5D- a Muso in the recording studio

Shot at 1600ISO with a 24-70mm 2.8 at 1/20

Shot at 250ISO 85mm at f1.8 1/15

Images have not been retouched yet.

Mr.C- you should have ordered a 5D!! I know a few people with a D700- Image quality still isn't as good as the canon but the body is better

Hey Navi, Nice, and I just had a look at your gallery. Nice work. What lenses do you use on you wedding shoots. ie what focal range.  We were swayed to the Nikon by the long delivery times on the canon. In veiw of a pending Egypt trip, the Nikon may have been a good choice. aa

we use 24-70 / 24-105 / 50mm/ 85mm / and rarely the 70-200 2.8 IS, 17-40 and sigma 15-30.
we also have a broncolor mobil kit- so we use flash on any location

The stuff on the web site has a lot of retouching.

Oh your god, like high end audio you pay for the price in high end photography!  But if it gives you the confidence to take better photos, awesome! :)
Most of the photos on my website were taken with a $250 Panasonic p&s btw... :P

My Sigma 24-70 f2.8 ex lens cost $555, stick a Caninikon label on it and suddenly its $2145 extra :P

looking at the photozone tests are practically the same performance (nikon slightly better res and sigma slightly better ca)

http://www.photozone.de/canon-eos/318-sigma-af-24-70mm-f28-ex-dg-macro-canon-lab-test-report--review?start=1

This is why im a Pentax user.

Hi Guys, How many of you own a 5D MKII. I am considering updating my 1D, and am thinking 5D. What do you think of this camera.

Thanks Mr C :D

Hi,

Curious if someone has used the 5D II in the field yet.  How does he like it?  Is the 24-105L-IS lens worth the salt?  Any comparable one, perfromance-wise?  The 24-105L-IS should be a good-enough all-round lens, esp. for travel purposes?  Is it sharp enough?  "L" series is supposed to be cream of the crop Canon?  Any alternative, similar or better in performacne?

Also, is it better now with respect to itself being about to avoid/clean dust inside etc. compared to the 5D?

Thanks.
