Question - what are the differences between the original "C1" and the current C2?  I thought the circuits were essentially the same but the C2 board was a bit larger for easier parts placement. 

If they are the same, the option to purchase a completed unit could be attractive if one didn't want to go the DIY route.

The original one used a 120Vac only transformer.  And a few other minor changes, but the circuit is essentially the same.
