B-100 SST Customer Feedback
« on: 13 Mar 2009, 04:15 pm »
Dear Mr Tanner

Thank you for the information you provided when I called a few weeks ago.

Since then, I purchased a B100SST Integrated Amplifier (S/N 000600) and could not be happier.  This is the best piece of stereo equipment I have ever owned.  The build quality reminds me of professional test instruments and the sound quality is well beyond the limits of what I thought of as high fidelity, at least for me, that spectrum has been forever redefined by the Bryston B100SST!

Please pass along my compliments to everyone there at Bryston for their hard work.

Sincerely
Vince Yarborough

P.S.  Please let everyone who likes Jazz know they can now access the University of Nevada’s Radio station via internet www.kunv.ovg. They present Jazz 5 Days a week; hope you don’t mind the plug.

Not a problem really, but the link for the radio station is http://www.kunr.org/
Those with Logitec products can search via RadioTime and you will find it there.

Hi James,

Do you know where the date code is on the Bryston B100 SST?

Here?s my problem.  I cannot find a preamp that sounds as good as the BP16 in the B100.  I am shocked at how good the B100 preamp sounds with the Hephaestus audio monoblocks.  It recently occurred to me just how special the Bryston preamp really is.

If I can?t find a better preamp, I?ll be keeping the Bryston for sure.

Regards,
Bill

To:  James Tanner or any B100sst owners

I received my B100sst today.  The unit isn't responding to the remote.  I can't tell whether the remote is broken or the unit is broken.  Do I need to do anything b/f they talk to each other?

Other issues:
The LED for the Aux1/Phono setting is notably dimmer vs. the others.  Is this the way it should be?

Also, on the Final Checkout sheet, distortion at 20K Hz reads 0.00817%/0.00814%.  The owner's manual says THD+noise is <0.005% 20Hz to 20kHz.  It seems inconsistent.

Many thanks

Hi Beaker,

MODEL SELECT BUTTONS:
Make sure PREAMP button is pushed on the BR2 -it may start to work.

If not Then:

PROGRAMMING the BR2 REMOTE CONTROL:
1st) Press and hold the CODE button on the BR2 remote until the red LED begins to flash (usually takes about 5 seconds).
2nd) Enter a three digit code as follows:
712: for B100 integrated amplifier

Thanks James.  I appreciate it.  The remote works now.

Do you have any thoughts on the LED and THD issue that I described in my post above?

The LED I will ask about and the distorition will vary a little on each measurement so I would not sweat that to much.

At $4200 you might want to consider the 4B-SST2 -- it's not that much more money, but it is alot more amplifier.

I own one, and it is amazing.

Hi,

Got this from Engineering:

Hi Jim;

Our published THD+N spec (from brochure) on the B100 output stage is .02%, so this one is fine, I'm sure.  Also, variability in LED brightness is common, and short of providing an adjustment for each LED, there's very little we can do.

Hi beaker,
I own B100-SST and for 20k THD is 0.00568% and 0.00622%
for the rest frequencies are bellow 0.005%.
As far I know THD is sum of all distortion not a single frequency.
So I assume the answer is that THD is bellow 0.005% for the region 20-20kHz

Hi,

The problem is that the prices are all different throughout the world so a price list in US dollars is only relevent in North America.

PSB sens is 90dB, you are making good use of the 4B huge power. I plan buy a big cone fullrange or something like it, it do not need much power.
Do you see any problem in the 2B or 3B??
