Minimum mV cartridge output for the phono section of my Ultra preamp?
«

I'm getting a new turntable and am thinking about a high output moving coil. Is there a minimum recommended spec for the phono section? Right now with my moving magnet Linn Adikt, I never go above 10 o'clock on the volume control...
Thanks,
Paul

Paul,
I've run a Sumiko Blue Point Special HOMC with my EC with no problem. That cartridge puts out 2.5mv. I would say that dropping below 2.0mv might be pushing it a bit, also may bring the noise floor up.
