Bryston BDA-1 USB
« on: 8 Mar 2009, 12:14 pm »
First let me say I love my 3B-ST. It must be approaching ten years old by now and it still runs and sounds like a charm.

Question: Does the Bryston BDA-1 use asynchronous USB and if not, why not? Could anyone elaborate on what steps were taken in the BDA-1 to mitigate jitter when using the USB connection?

Hi,

USB is a bi-directional bus, but it depends on the 'endpoints' being used. In the case of the BDA1, the audio stream is isochronous (or adaptive) and uni-directional from the computer to the BDA1, however there is data being transferred as well, which is bi-directional.

Also we do not convert the I2S to SPDIF at the USB input but accept it in native I2S.
