So my buddy came over tonite. I haven't had anybody for serious listening since my room was finished until my GIK treatments were up. The sound is finally ready for the discriminating public!
Anyway. I spun side one of Procol Harum's Broken Barricades. Simple Sister is such a great song with such a driving funky bass line/beat and so many layers of trilling piano, sweeping strings and blistering Trower guitar.

Then, Grand Hotel's A Souvenir Of London with the driving tympanic kick drum and banjo of all things. Was this song about syphilis? I consider this their sixth album (I usually can't seem to count live albums when I go through a group's chronology in my mind).

Finally, side two of Shine on Brightly. Is there any more progressive track out there than In Held Twas In I? Could you possibly get kids to listen to a 17 and a half minute song? Could it possibly fly on today's radio? Doubtful on all counts. And it was only 1968!!

Had a great time!
Paul
