Any of you using pink noise and spectrum analyzers to set up your systems? I know most audiophools don't run tone control (unless you count cables  :) ) but could it aid in speaker placement/room treatment for optimal tone balance?

The beef I hear (no pun intended) on EQ, is 1) just more stuff in the signal path, and 2) phase shifting, which messes up imaging.

What about digital domain EQ?

And finally....why do I see that guys running EQ on their subs are picking the Behringer Feedback Destroyer model rather than just an ordinary 1/3 oct graph or a parametric?

i use a pink noise generator & spectrum analyzer to help set up my active x-over, when trying different monitor speakers w/my subwoofers.  makes dialing them in a lot easier...
