NPR has a very nice interview with Neko Case on their music site. Neko has her own band which often play in Tucson and she is also in the Canadian band "The New Pornographers".

You can also listen to a preview of Neko's newest album Middle Cyclone.
This is good stuff gang, check it out.

New Pornos are the best, I've seen them three times (twice with Neko), AC Newman solo once. Have tickets to AC Newman later this month.

I think Neko is out on tour right now, too. She's great.

She hits the Nokia Theater next month. I moved out of Manhattan 17 years ago; what's the Nokia like? Is it a newer theater or a renamed older venue?

Love Neko.  Saw her in Pittsburgh a few years ago; a great set very much like her "Live From Austin Texas" disc with several tracks from "Fox Confessor Brings the Flood" (both highly recommended).

BTW - her new CD is being released tomorrow...

You can listen to it on NPR too:  http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=100826714

Getting just a little wee bit off topic:
does anybody have a link to the press photos she did a few years back on a pool table?
wearing black lingerie? (cheesecake at its best)

I've seen her live a couple-a-times--once with the Sadies.  It seems like more reverb was on her voice than was really needed, but who am I to quibble.  She sounded amazing every time I've heard her sing.  Tell you what, she's got some really great, uh, pipes.

Fox Confessor was the perfect CD soundtrack for my drive through Monument Valley, Utah last summer.

Thanks. I was in Times Square maybe five years ago and was unaware of this venue.

Doesn't Ed's avatar look great with this Nokia photo?

Somewhat rare occurrence: Pitchfork and Popmatters review it on the same day, today.

Pitchfork: 7.9/10
"Neko Case crafts another strong entry in her strange catalog, a culmination of some of the lyrical and musical concerns she's been exporing since Blacklisted"

Popmatters: 5/10
"Beguiling beauty and powerful pipes can’t save Case’s latest from feeling like a disappointment."

So Ed can be the tiebreaker! lol

I saw and heard Neko Case at the Central Park Summerstage concert last year and was disappointed, as she sang mostly country-tinged songs.  I much prefer her vocals when she sings with the New Pornographers, as there is much more variety in musical genres/offerings.

Not a whole concert's worth, especially if its pure country and not mixed with rock, blues or some other musical form.      Hey, you off from work today?
