Has anyone heard the Emerald CS-2s and *not*liked them? If so, why?

I haven't heard 'em, but I'm very interested.

Current speakers are ESL-988s, Living Voice Avatar, and Audio Note AN/E.

Would love to hear comparisons with any of these, or any Quad ESL (including the original).

Thanks!

I've heard them and thought they were unremarkable.

Interesting question in that you may not get a huge response. Of course that will be fine.  I would love to get your response in comparison to the Quads after you hear the CS2's.  I won't tell you that I have them and love them since you are only looking for people that do not like them.

Thanks for not telling me that! 8)

No, I'm happy to hear about why people like them.

I'd especially like to hear comments from people who have owned speakers renowned for transparency/coherence and find the CS-2 comparable in those regards.  Any comparison from stat owners would be especially appreciated...

Thanks!

Hi,

Zybar/george might be able to chime in.  He has had so many top quality speakers that he should be able to make some comments.  He had a pair of cs2's at home for quite a while.

I agree.
I had 'em in my system and posted some comments about a year ago.

Since there was sooo much positive press out there, I just figured my problems were room and/or gear related.   But who knows?     :dunno:

If you search here on AC, you will see tons of very positive reviews and comments.

Personally, I think they are a very good speaker and perform way above the asking price.  I think the extremely positive reviews in The Absolute Sound and Positive Feedback are spot on and really nail what the CS2's are all about.

I am in the process of selling mine, but that is simply due to no longer having the luxury of owning multiple speakers and having them rotate in and out of my system.

From what I heard from George's CS-2 setup the day I had me over, I can't fathom anyone not liking these loudspeakers. I found them to be incredibly dynamic and detailed myself but then again George's system is tweaked to the tilt and I know he had them dialed in. If someone didn't know what they were doing with the digital crossovers thou, I can see how they could be made to sound crappy. But that sure as hell wasn't the case with George's Emerald Physics. :thumb:
