Need help
« on: 25 Feb 2009, 07:58 pm »
Well been long time but I have had a slim device since I used it only once ( CES 2005 )  for the CES show only.

Now I have a pair of Lacie 250g loaded with Flac I have never even set up. My intention is to look over the hard drives grab what I would like to have for my small system now and then sell off the Slim Device (never modified) and the pair of Lacie 250g hard drives.

Now how can I read the Flac files and import into itunes using Windows.!!!!

Thanks.
Al

To bad never got into the system but have loads more of goods I will be selling off as well.

iTunes doesn't support FLAC, although I've heard there are some ways to hack in support under OS X (don't know about Windows).  Your best bet under Windows is to use another audio player that supports FLAC (foobar, Winamp, Songbird).

Al,

iTunes will not read or play FLAC files naturally. There may be some programs out there that might be able to let you play FLAC with iTunes, but I don't know them.

You should be able to read what is on your hard drive just by clicking on My Computer and then the drive letter of the Lacie drives. You can then just copy the files over to your hard drive. You can play them using foobar or another media player.

You can also use a program like dbPowerAmp that can convert the FLAC files to AIFF or AAC that iTunes will read.

"MediaMonkey" works well for this also (has FLAC compatability).

Glad I could help Al.
I've done the same thing from time to time.
Erase the 'doubles', then defragment the HDD. You'll be good as gold.

Bob are you using the Gold?  If so any benefits?

I could not find any location to automatically delete double installs , less I am missing it?

Man did not know what I had in music till today, that's what happens when I spent so much time in the shop for them years!!

Found another 80g full as well!

Not using the Gold version Al. Not sure what color my monkey IS, but it's not the gold one.

I do believe there's a "remove duplicate" (or something to that effect) feature. If memory serves, it's under the [file] or [edit] 'pull down' on the upper left of the screen. I might be thinking of the "remove dead entries" feature, but I'm at work and can't check right now.
Actually I do prefer to do my file deleting in the Windows Explore menu. Nothing better than manipulating the file structure right at the harddrive level with no 'middle-man' involved.

Finding 80GB of tune is like Christmas Al.
Congratulations!

Hey Al,
Just discovered today (quite by accident) that foobar has a 'delete duplicates' function.
Looks like I lied to you when I said Media Monkey may have that function.
Sorry 'bout that.  :duh:
