Killer deal on some OB-7 Plus's...
« on: 25 Feb 2009, 04:20 pm »
I mentioned these in a thread earlier, but thought I'd start a new thread on it and find these speakers a new home.

This pair was built for use at the RMAF a few years ago?

Finish is oriental wood, oil rubbed. They are wired with Vampire Wire continuos caste Copper, Sonicaps, foil inductors, and even a custom bass management system on the four outer woofers.

$2,500 plus shipping and they are yours.

Here they are again with our resident speaker model...

Nice looking speakers :thumb:  How easy are they to drive?

They are an 8 ohm impedance, 91db sensitivity and pretty easy to drive.

I know these are entirely different than the LS-9's, but how do they compare?  The reason why I ask is I am contemplating backing out of my LS-9's with AV123.  I am looking at viable options that will come close to the LS-9's, though.

Danny has a thorough comparison of these and the LS-6s.  Add a servo sub and you'll probably match or exceed the line sources in most areas.  IIRC, Danny built this pair himself a few years back....so kinda cool.

Plus you can actually GET THEM!!

Good luck on getting a pair of LS-6's or LS-9's unless you build them yourself.

I received an email a few days back saying they had Moho and Rosewood LS6 in stock.  They are more expensive than these, though, and Danny's pair have crossover/wiring upgrades

The LS series have dynamics and soundstage that are hard to touch. Danny likes the "air" around the mids in the OB-7.   Personally, I have a clear preference for the LS series.  They create a more full 3D presence than the OB series.  In short, after hearing that particular OB-7 a couple of years ago, I was impressed with it as the next great speaker from Danny.  When I heard the LS-6 prototype, I started making plans to own one.  I am currently having the cabinets finished for a pair of LS-9's.

Did you pre-pay those LS-9's, if not you should be all set bailing and getting these.

They were actually bought by my neighbor, concert-going buddy. But I made the stipulation that these will be shipped to me first. I'll let him have them in a week or two.  8)  aa  :thumb:
