I've used them in the photo darkroom for decades, but not for audio.  It is an old stand-by for eliminating static cling on negatives and reducing dust.  There used to be a 3" model, not sure if it is still made.

It has a small radioactive strip built in, the likes of which will probably have the California Eco-Cops breaking down your door to tell you there is a risk of cancer if you so much as look at it. :dunno:

The 3" model is still available. I'm considering buying the 1" refill to see if it works well with vinyl.

I've been using Pledge Dust & Allergen Unscented Dry Cloths for a while.  They can be bought at the supermarket and before playing an LP I sweep the surface with one.  They remove fine dust and static.  They are described as Dry Electrostatic Disposable cloths and they have improved vinyl playback significantly in both my systems.  They are cheap and disposable and can be found as generic brands also.  You don't wet them in any way, used dry.  Almost totally remove surface noise.
