RIP Gerry Niewood

Gerry Niewood from Chuck Mangione's band was on the flight that crashed this week. He was a great saxophonist and some of my first few jazz recordings on vinyl were his work in Chuck's band (including Tony Levin on bass). Chuck lost his current guitarist as well.

I haven't heard that name for a while. He was a really great saxophonist. I'm sorry to hear of his death. Thanks for the info-

I think he was on his way to play with Buffalo Philharmonic.
