FS: Pair Wright Sound Mono 7 300B amps
« on: 10 Feb 2009, 06:33 pm »
Well folks,

I am reluctantly putting up my Mono 7s up for sale due to finances.

http://www.wright-sound.com/scripts/prodView.asp?idproduct=21

They have Onetics superb, custom, purpose-built OPTs and grounding treatments. Tube complement: NOS Mullard GZ34 rectifiers, NOS Sylvania 'chrome dome' 6SN7 GTAs and Sophia Electric meshplate 300Bs. Stock EH 300Bs and 6SN7s included as backups. These were the prototype models so are mislabeled as 3.5 Monos and the 300B slot is labeled 2A3. 7/10 but working perfectly. 4/8/16 Ohm taps. Conservative voltage to tubes results in 7 watts per channel and long tube life. Mates well with tube pre...jrebman already purchased my WLA 12A linestage to mate with his Mono 7s. $1745 retail with $800 in NOS tubes...asking for $1000 + shipping and 4% for paypal fees for all. Located in WA 98340. Thanks for looking. SET 'magic' on the cheap...

Somebody give these great amps a good home!
Richard treated me right when I got my Hornshoppe Horns from him, and I'd buy 'em if I was flush enough.
Good luck, 't'!

Best Regards,
DeadFish

Just a shout out for Richard and these amps.  Richard is great to deal with, no question about that.  This is also an extremely good deal on a really nice pair of amps.

I have had mine playing for a day and a half straight, and even using stock tubes -- JJ GZ34 and 300b, and EH 6sn7, they sound really quite good.  There was significant improvement over the course of the first 6 to 8 hours, but Richard's already have time on them so they're probably already in the sweet spot.

I've not been a big fan of most 300b amps, and this one really is quite different with a presentation much closer to a 2a3 than a 300b -- a really big 2a3, that is.  Very nice balance, great detail and much better top and bottom end than what you would think from a 300b.

Really fine, and quiet, amps.  Mine are going nowhere.

Another shout for Richard.

I don't know much about the circuit design used here by George Wright, but he is a good fella and has put out good designs in the past.

In any case, the reason to purchase this amp, are the awesome transformers by Bud Purvine of O-Netics. These are cream of the crop transformers that rank right up there with Lundahl Amorphous cores. That's the reason for the great top to bottom end. The O-Netics are very wide bandwidth.

Best,
Anand.

Somebody's in for a treat.  Wonder if that's the somebody I talked to on the phone the other day.  If so, either of those speakers of yours will sing with these.

D'oh, hate it when that happens.  Been there.

Great amps, great price -- somebody really needs to get these.

Damn. Wish I could trade a wife....
I've been living with 'intervention mode' from my better half for a few months.  (she learned to count the boxes with wires sticking out of them, and that box of speakers kind of pushed her over...) :green:
Honest to God I'd like to help T....  They'd like living here.

Good luck; I was feeling pretty good when you said they were sold and I hadn't talked myself into selling blood yet.

Take care!

Bill
