Stratos Mono Extreme Dead (Not anymore)
« on: 9 Feb 2009, 01:55 pm »
Turned on both amps this AM.  Right channel totally quiet; checked fuses all good, changed power sources still nothing.  No burned smells, etc, just dead.

They've been running pretty much continuously since purchase in June.  Only off when away for extended periods.

I'll call Klaus later today, but is there anything else to check?
Thanks
Mark

Can you hear the soft start relay click on after a few seconds?

Nope, nada nothing.  Totally dead.  I have no idea.  Everything is in-place on the inside, no burn smell, never noticed anything abnormal until attempting to turn on this AM.

So no front panel light or power?  Maybe something on the IEC inlet connection or power cord?

No nothing.  I tried 2 power cords (the one from the other amp) and still nothing.  IEC looks fine, nothing loose, no broken solder, etc.

Thanks for trying

Not sure which fuses you checked (inside?), but does yours have a fuse holder built in to the IEC connector?

I checked all 4 inside, all good.  I didn't notice a fuse holder in the IEC interconnect.

External fuse.  It's on power supply plastic inlet.  There's a also spare in the compartment as well.
This fuse reacted on AC anomalies.

Yep, that was it!  We did have a momentary blackout here in FL a few days ago.  Looks like the fuse did exactly what is was supposed to do!
Thanks Tom and of course Klaus
