How would you expect it to compare with the RC5, or, the RC5 with a Raal?

How would you expect it to compare with the RC5, or, the RC5 with a Raal?

A little history on how this came about. Back in the first part of 2008 I had a customer in Australia commission a high end 3-way kit design which used the Scan-Speak 8" aluminum cone Revelators and a MTM on top with a Fountek ribbon and Scan-Speak 4" Revelator midranges. When we first started planning the Visionario my customer requested some specific goals for the design. He wanted a cabinet with a fairly narrow footprint and higher sensitivity being the top objectives. I took the Australian design a step further by changing the upper drivers to add more dynamics and detail.

In comparison to the RC5 this speaker won't go quite as low (but still very respectable with a -3db point in the upper 30's) but has higher sensitivity. The midrange quality is going to be similar to the RC5G (Accuton mids) with slightly less output capability (W12 4.5" cone). The highs are the usual ribbon vs. dome debate, both performing very well but which you choose being a matter of preference. A version of the RC5G with the RAAL is in the works.

Hello All.  This is my first post.  I'm Rick's customer for the first Visionarios.  Rick says that they should be ready in the next week or so.  I've ordered my inaugural recording for them, and I can't wait to light them up.  Rick has been super to work with.  We talked about designs for a long time before settling on this one.  I live in the same area as Rick, so if anyone would like to hear them, let me know.  I'd be happy to set up an audition.

Is the MTM portion of the Visionario the same as the anticipated Extreme MTM?

No, all different drivers. The MTM will have the Seas W16 and RAAL 70-20XR. The Visionario has the W12 and 70-10.

I'll soon add the info to my site. The response is 35hz-20K (-3db/+2db), 87.5db sensitivity, 4 ohm load.

Beautiful speaker - Are you going to have them in Raleigh for a while?

(I'd like to hear them)
