Has anyone built a small, as-silent-as-possible computer with a Bluray DVD player/burner and HDMI.  And also preferably Bluray?  If so, what did you use and what obstacles did you find?

I was thinking of using this case (or something like it), one hard drive, the Bluray, and a 256/512 MB video card with no fan:

I was thinking about building a blu ray HTPC last year, but they could not support audio over HDMI at that time.

Now they can, but I bought a stand alone player instead.

But, if it was me, I would like at something like the MB in this thread

You need a case, but it is micro atx, and it supports 8 channel lpcm over HDMI

A couple of years back I built a HTPC based on a Shuttle barebones case, and the fan system was very noisy.  I eventually ended up abandoning it for HT use because of the noise, even after extensive modification.  I've yet to find a small form factor case that was quiet enough for me, and ended up with a larger Silverstone desktop style case that I keep around the corner in a dedicated media closet.  Maybe Shuttle has quieted down their cooling system since I last had one, but I don't know.

I doubt anyone has done a truly full featured blu-ray HTPC - the technology has not been there. Now it looks possible but of couse would it be up to audiophile standards?

One key is 8-channel LPCM over HDMI

There are some very good fanless power supplies, so the noisiest component would be the blu-ray drive (or video card?) if you went that route.

If you REALLY want quiet.

As to if the no fan case's cooling and power supply will support the HDMI enabled mother boards that I leave as an exercise for the class.
