This would be to either drive me woofers in a pair of RM 40's or possibly some VMPS subs.

Right now, I guess I have the following on my list:

QSC
Crown

Thanks,

GW

I would recommend an Aragon 4004 or 8008. Incredible bass control and definition. A Bryston would work well too I think. I have 4004MKII and love it. I'm sure you could find one of these amps used for under $1000.

I have the Crown K2 and love it.

The benifit of the QSC is the add on EQ module.  The draw back is the fan.  They do make low DB fans for it though.
I heard Wayne Wanaanen's (Bolder) QSC at the MAF and never noticed the fan at all.

Marbles,

Not sure if I can go K2 (price wise).

BTW, did you ever try and bi-amp your 40's with the Crown amp?

Not yet, but my amps, Symphonic Line Kraft mono 400's do a very adequate job

I got my K2 on Ebay for around $900

I heard Wayne's QSC at VSAC. I wouldn't have known it had a fan in it at all. Whatever he replaced the stock fan with was quiet enought that I never heard it.
