Hello everyone, here's the next evolution of our DA-131,
DA-131 Mk2. Since we have newer generation of power regulator circuit developed for DA-152, and have furthered our DAC design techniques. We feel that it is only logical to implement it into our DA-131. That's how
DA-131 Mk2 came to be.
Now then, here's what DA-131 Mk2 does, and detail the features that had been enhanced in Mk2.
- Neutral sound signature, DA-131 Mk2 sounds good with almost any music, this is further improved from the previous version and made to sound even more refined than before. We prefer to have our product to fit your listening preference, not the other way around.
- Detail and resolution, while already quite good originally, we have managed to squeeze even more detail out with Mk2 version. Good amount of detail only adds to the enjoyment of music, and DA-131 Mk2 reveals the detail without any of the digital fatigue that is normally associated with very detailed DACs.
- Ultra low noise floor, while in previous version, the noise is already too low to be heard on most equipments. We have further lowered the noise floor with KECES Gen2 power circuit. We cannot hear any noise at all, and have to rely on test figures to show us the difference now.
- Precise instrument imaging, you can virtually hear each instrument and where they come from with a proper setup.
- Open sound stage, with precise imaging, a open sound stage will come naturally. It is essential to have a good sound stage that is not congested, nor something so unnaturally big.
- Excellent frequency extension, by design, DA-131 Mk2 have excellent frequency extension just like before, it is smooth and clear all the way from high treble to low bass.
- Most importantly, we designed DA-131 Mk2 not just for the specs, but to make it enjoyable to listen to. (Just like before) Music something to be enjoyed, after all, who wouldn't like to enjoy music for hours on end if they do have the time to do so?
All of the above is just the beginning, and DA-131 Mk2 easily beats the analog output of CD Player costing 3 times more, you really have to hear it to believe it.
DA-131 Mk2 Basic Specs.
- Input: 1 Coaxial RCA input and 1 TOSLINK inpit. Capable of receiving and decoding up to 24bit/192KHz digital audio. (most other DAC are limited to 96KHz due to the receiver chip they used.)
- Output: Standard analog RCA output.
- Gen2 KECES power supply circuit, improved from Gen1's already excellent performance to allow even lower noise and improved frequency response.
- High Op-Amp operating voltage, HA-171 use +/-15V power for its op-amps to produce even better performance and dynamic control/power. (If you want to try other op-amps, please make sure they can tolerate +/-15V first, op amps like AD8610 cannot be used or the it will likely be damaged.)
- Fully DC coupled signal path, no coupling capacitor, no DC Servo. Allows DA-131 Mk2 to show its full potential with a very detailed and neutral tone across the entire frequency range.
- Larger and further optimized board for better performance than before.
- Modular power input board just like DA-131.1, this allows easy input voltage switching (100~125V or 200~250V) and allows IEC socket to be upgraded to high quality IeGO gold plated copper or pure silver sockets.
- More powerful transformer, same as the one used for DA-152.
- Same great sounding BurrBrown PCM1793 DAC and National Semiconductor LME49710 op amps as used in DA-131.1.
- Same attention to details, excellent workmanship through out the unit just like all our products do.
- Same high quality audio grade or military grade component as used through out our entire product range.
- Same dimension, 215 ×205 ×80mm (W*L*H). It is now easier than ever to pair it up with a KECES pre-amp or components in your system.

GU-R301 Gold plated 99.99% pure copper IEC socket not only enhance the details and dynamics, it also makes it sound warm and smooth, the high quality processing done on GU-R301's gold plating process also makes it sound more refined and all without losing a bit of the details (Well, it actually enhances the details when compared to the original computer grade socket).
GU-R301 is warmer sounding than AG-R301, if you are looking for warmer sound signature with more flair, please choose GU-R301 over AG-R301.AG-R301 99.99% pure silver IEC socket will enhance dynamics and detail even further than GU-R301, and as with very high quality silver, the sound is smooth, detailed and quite neutral. It does not have the "silver harshness" normally associated with low grade silver or thinly plated silver cable and connectors, high quality silver sounds smooth, with proper thickness, very detailed and open.
AG-R301 is neutral sounding and more detailed with better dynamics than GU-R301, if you are looking for that, please choose AG-R301 over GU-R301. Please note that while GU-R301 is warmer, AG-R301 is by no means cold, it is very neutral.
