The Carolina Audio Society is hosting what promises to be a great audio event on 2/21/09. Event features...

> Headfi meet (headphone meet)
> National vendor participation
> Presentation by Joesph GRADO
> Buy / Sell / Trade

I plan to have the following gear at my table:

> RWA Isabella with Amperex 7308s, NOS DAC and internal RWA headphone output
> RWA Signature 30.2, driving AKG K1000s, hardwired with Moon Black Dragon
> Hopefully ALO / RWA's new dedicated headphone amp & pair or two of ALO recabled headphones (likely Grado G1000 and AKG 702)
> Apple Macbook

If you are anywhere near Charlotte, this should be a neat event. Details here: http://www.head-fi.org/forums/f24/official-thread-southern-charlotte-canfest-2009-a-360873/

Kent

Thanks Rich for beathing live back into this Circle.

Thanks Kent for the first "meat and potatoes" thread of the new Carolina Circle! :thumb:

I just got some used AKG 701s recently, along with my Shure SE500s, so I'm starting to learn more about headfi. I'm still using my faithful Creative Jukebox 3. It powers the 701s surprisingly well, but I'd like another 5dB and a larger harddrive to hold wavs or flac... Mp3s and super cans like these just don't mix. But the JB3 sounds far better than my wifes recent iPod classic.

Sounds like a nice meeting coming up. I would love to hear your K1000s!!!
Who here on AC is planning to attend??  Do you know what vendors are coming?
Thanks
Rich

Rich,

I'm seriously considering going down on the 21st.

I hate to close the office another Saturday (I've got continuing Ed this Saturday)...but this looks WAY too tempting.

This is a one time shot to hear industry pioneer Joesph Grado. Buy / sell / trade open to 2ch gear. And frankly there will some pretty high-end headfi rigs amongst the options to hear. Also a raffle for gear.

Love to see you all there!

A few of the CAS members got together at Danny's house and saw some of the gear that people have sent.

Going to be lots of great toys to listen to.  We tried not to drool on the equipment too much.

Can't wait.  Going to have a great time!!

Danny mentioned the following over at Headfi:

The Jade electrostatic headphone has arrived. This was sent by Fang for CanFEST 09. Also, he will be attending. I will be burning it in so it will perform at its best on 2/21. So, if you're in the area and would like to check it out then we'll see you at the meet. We will also have a pair of 02s with a KGSS and SRM007 for amplification and whatever other attendees may bring. Additionally, Jack Woo will be bringing a GES.

Just a few notes of interest from Danny for everyone attending the Southern CANFest in Charlotte:

Cary Audio will donate the new Xciter D/A converter as a prize for the club to earn some $$$$$$. This carries a $1500 retail price."

Raffle tickets are $5 or 5 for $20. If anyone is interested in purchasing any, even if you are not able to attend, let me know and I'll make arrangements for purchases.

More items are in the process of being donated and I'll list those on the initial post of this thread shortly.

Ray Samuels has been kind enough to donate the very first Predator, yep-that's serial number 001, for the raffle. A very BIG thank you to Ray.

Through the kind assistance of Joe Grado, his nephew John, who currently heads up Grado Laboratories, has been kind enough to donate several pair of the famous Grado SR225 headphones for CanFEST. Remember, you don't have to attend to partake in the raffle. Just PM me for advance raffle tickets.

For Out of Town guests:
The hotel rate was originally $159/night. I just renegotiated it to $89/night. If you have already made a reservation just let them know at check in you are with CanFEST and you should get the discounted rate. Any problems have them ask for Kayla who authorized the discount.

Wow! Some really nice prizes...

At the Cary Audio Factory tour CAS organized a while back, our friend chrisa won a AE-3 preamp. I have heard it in his system it sounds AWESOME!

I'll take 5 tickets jake. I can use a headamp or DAC, or both!! ;)
Lookin like I probably will not be able to attend... My wife works weekends. :(
paypal OK? PM me or post here with payment details.
Thanks for organizing the raffle.

There will be a table with the drawing tickets so you will be able to purchase tickets throughout the day.  The plan is to have drawing several times during the day.
