Pentodes in Triode Mode & Just Plain Triodes

I asked a similar question a little while ago.  This time I want to try a different angle and get your thoughts on the differences between running pentodes (KT-88, 6L6, etc...) in triode mode vs using power triodes (300b, 45, 2A3, 6N7, 6AS7 etc...).

My experience:

Out of every amp I've owned or heard that was switchable between pentode (or ultralinear) and triode, I've preferred the pentode connection. Moreover, all the higher powered pentode 1950’s type amps I’ve heard run second place to my favorite solid state design – Naim.

I prefer SETs made with purpose built triodes over all of the above (but I’ve heard plenty of underperforming products in this class).

My conclusion is that a true triode SET with the minimal number of stages possible, a stout, well filtered power supply and a high quality output transformer will feed music to the speakers better than any other type of amplifier.
