Where Do Yo Buy Batteries
« on: 30 Jan 2009, 05:29 am »
I need new batteries for my Sig 30 and before I order them on the internet I wonder if anybody could tell me what kind of store might sell them becuase all my internet searches of retailers only bring up car batteries. Thanks.

But I was hoping for immediate satisfaction. Can't somebody point me to nearest all-night battery center?

Hi hmen,

SLA batteries are not typically stocked in drug stores or Walmart, etc. (like Alkaline batteries).

You can try to see if your local Radio Shack has 'em:
http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3307546

You need a 12V, 5Ah SLA (2 of them).  The link above is for one made by Yuasa.  These should be good batteries, but I would ask
them to test the terminal voltage for you.  If it is below 12.5V, I wouldn't buy them because SLA batteries should not be stored
for long periods of time without being "topped off."  A fully charged 12V SLA should be approx. 12.8V.

If you do get 'em, please make sure that you fully charge them after installing them - BEFORE you play the amp.

If you need to purchase online, the Power Sonic brand has been very good:

Hope this helps,

Vinnie

I got my two sla at the local electrical supple (Friedman electric) seems the major use for this battery is emergency lighting and are actually pretty easy to find once you start looking in that direction.

Radio Shack, Home Depot (a couple sizes), Batteries Plus store or on-line (much cheaper with fast delivery) at BatteryMart https://www.batterymart.com/ .

ED it correct - I forgot to mention this.  These 12V, 5Ah SLA batteries are VERY common and used primarily for alarm system backup, un-interruptable power supplies (UPS), emergeny lighting, medical equipment back-up, etc.  This is one of the most common voltage/capacity batteries made.

Hi BPT,

I didn't know that home depot carries these... I'll check it out the next time I am there to see what brand and sizes they have in stock.  Thanks!

Vinnie

Vinnie:
Try Lowe's as well. I can't remember if they keep them by the power strips or with the outdoor lighting.

There's a chain store called BatteriesPlus that's carriers them.   Pricier than online though.

Another question on replacement batteries...should the terminal connectors be F1 (.187 inch wide) or F2 (.250 inch wide)?

Hi Dan,

We use F1 terminals, but for the Isabella, Isabellina, Sig 30.2, and 70.2 units - we solder to the battery terminals.  So you can use F2 if you like...

Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
