I'm going to be making a West Coast swing at the end of the month.  When I'm traveling, I like to stop in at audio stores, see what they're recommending, listen a little to their systems, maybe pick up an open-box special.  What are the places I should visit in these 3 California cities?

In San Diego you can hit up two stores on one street.  One is outstanding (Stereo Unlimited) and the other is more mid-fi (Sound Company).  They are both located on Sports Arena Blvd.  Do a search for both on MSN yellow pages and you should get exact directions.  Another in San Diego is Stereo Design, which is also outstanding.  Really cool dudes at Stereo Design and Stereo Unlimited.   If you don't walk in there completely clueless looking, the guys at Stereo Design treat you with the, "Make yourself at home" attitude.  Pretty cool in my opinion.  Have fun!

Kevin Deal in Upland, CA (30 miles outside of LA) is the greatest guy ever.  The world's largest stash of tubes, and a warehouse as big as the state of Rhode Island.

There's none better on the face of the Earth!

Kevin Deal is Upscale Audio

http://www.upscaleaudio.com/

You might check out his tube info on the site. But don't even THINK of raiding Kevin's private stash--that's for me!  (an exact address is on the site, but mail order works just as well for tubes doesn't it??)
