Here are some of my favorite albums, all of which sound phenomenal.
The Bill Evans I especially like because it's both pleasant background music as well as very interesting/innovative (always discovering new aspects).

Bill Evans - Waltz for Debby

Bill Evans - Sunday at the Village Vanguard

Dave Brubeck Quartet - Time Out

Janine Jansen - The Four Seasons

Puccini: Madame Butterfly - Leinsdorf

Vivaldi: La Stravaganza - Podger/Arte Dei Suonatori

Wow! I've followed this thread a bunch but don't see a "search" to make sure these haven't been given before. I hope they have because they are awesome. I hope they haven't, to get you to give them a listen!

Ray Charles Genius Loves Company. Great sound! Vocals to leave you with goose bumps.
Bob Marley, Legend. Fun bass beat, fantastic vocals and percussion, ... great recording quality.
Minnesota Orchestra Showcase, Eiji Oue: Minnesota Orchestra. A little known gem? - I probably learned about it here.
Erykah Badu, Baduizm: Give your system a fun workout! Big bass beat. Fantastic and dynamic female vocals.
Stan Getz, Stan Getz & Oscar Peterson Trio  Wow, wow, wow (for the trio).

I'm pretty sure that all the rest on my list have been listed here.

I was thinking about suggesting this in the Blu-ray demo but think that it's somewhat lacking in the LFE dept  :shake:

The best of many recent Blu-ray concert aquistions. My wife even commented about the quality of the sound, and believe me that doesen't happen all too often.

fishinbob recommended the:

Vivaldi: La Stravaganza - Podger/Arte Dei Suonatori

Way back on page 25 of this large thread!!

And for some reason I missed it in compiling my list...

I will update and am working on installment 3 and hope to have it up soon.

Cool. Glad to find the lists. I see dozens that I agree with and so many more to try out. Still, I only see two of my 5 listed (Genius Loves Company and Eiji Oue). Might want to check out the others.

Big sound and fine performances. An excellent demo for multi-channel music. This disc usually sits near the top of the pile. :thumb:

Is this multichannel?  I found it on Amazon but there is no indication on the cover or descripton that it is multichannel (as apposed to 2 channel).

Okay this may not be ideal "demo" material, and I may be a little behind in discovering this one but it's probably my favorite CD I picked up in the last year:
Steven Marley - Mind Control

also available is Mind Control acoustic
Both are excellent

Cheers

Finally couldn't take it anymore and had to try some of these recommended demo CD's out through Amazon's used CD purchase ability.  Picked up the following:

Tommy Emmanuel - Liveone
Erikah Badu - Baduizm
Fourplay - Between the Sheets and their self titled release

I've been playing this Cd at least once a night ....guy sings pretty good for 70 years old...here's his latest appearance on Letterman....

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7UTf2nXPPhM

Yes....it's Tom Jones....

But his newest album is quiet good....This is Tom Jones going back to his roots on an album of gospel, blues, traditional and country songs, wearing his heart on his sleeve, emotionally raw and true.

“We wanted to go back to basics, go back to the source, it was just me singing live with a rhythm section - no overdubbing, no gimmicks, no complicated horn and string arrangements, just get the song down in an entire take, capture the meaning of the song, its spirituality, its life, and capture that moment, right there. And I think that’s what we’ve done...”

I agree....the album  ......."Praise & Blame"

Check it out...
