Nuance,

This is for YOU.

I forgot all about it, its a piano classic.

George Winston's 'December'

http://www.amazon.com/December-George-Winston/dp/B000000NFI/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1277416713&sr=1-2-spell

There is a 20th anniversary enhanced edition as well, mine is the original...can be had for 1 cent + shipping!

Just finished listening to it, quite loud on the volume on my Onkyp 805.
Its recorded at a low level, but crank it up...no hiss etc.

If you have the patience and want to hear GREAT piano solos, with rich harmonics and tonal quality to die for...this will make a grown man cry.

Yes its moody, but its real awesome.

Joy is wonderful as well as the Variations on the Kanon by Pachelbel ....my 2 favorites.

Real piano, played wonderfully....just piano nothing else.!!

Enjoy
Alex

Smooth Jazz, but a really timeless classic from the great Lee Ritenour:

"Color Rit"

http://www.amazon.com/Color-Rit-Lee-Ritenour/dp/B0000001QN/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1277417177&sr=1-1

Another 20+ yr old recording.

Awesome recording from the past, upbeat, staccato like guitar riffs, play it loud and listen to all the wonderful musical things going on!!

This is a demo cd for sure!

Enjoy
Alex

Hello All!

Looking  for some older stuff that is really good as far as recording quality etc.

In particular Judy Collins?

Anyone have any of her CD's that are 'demo' quality??

All the best

Not Judy, but I really like this remastered recording of Joan Baez singing folk tunes.

Hi,

Been a really great day for listening. I have a potential Salk Owner stop by from Northern Virginia to listen to the SalkSongtowers...We went thru one of Jims demo discs, RMAF 2006 and BobM's demo disk....and a few others, Truly a great set of music, many reported throughout this thread.

But I just got done listening to Diana Krall's "All For You" and it was heavenly....another sonic treat...for sure.

http://www.amazon.com/All-You-Dedication-King-Cole/dp/B000003N89/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1278870823&sr=8-1

Hope all is well in the world with you all!

All the best

Artist: Nina Nastasia

Album: Dogs

Engineer: Steve Albini

From Wikipedia:

Dogs is the first album by American singer-songwriter Nina Nastasia. It was originally released in 2000 by Socialist Records and re-released in 2004 by Touch and Go Records.

John Peel has described the album as "astonishing".

Also,

Engineer Steve Albini has described it as one of the albums he is the most proud of, as well as one of his personal favorites:

"In the process of making a record, you hear it so many times that the charms of even the best of them can wear off through over-exposure. On rare occasions, records I've worked on have withstood this scrutiny and ended up being personal favorites. Nina Nastasia's 'Dogs' is a record so simultaneously unassuming and grandiose that I can't really describe it, except in terms that would make it (and me) sound silly. Of the couple thousand records I've been involved with, this is one of my favourites, and one that I'm proud to be associated with."

My favorites are A Love Song and Smiley

The kick drum and musical saw on  A Love Song make for some serious goosebump music listening.

Amazon link: http://www.amazon.com/DOGS-Vinyl-NINA-NASTASIA/dp/B00023B1HG/ref=sr_1_12?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1279660113&sr=8-12

Enjoy.

P.S. If this CD tickles your fancy then please check out her other album, The Blackened Air, also engineered by Steve Albini.

I posted my experience with Jake Shimabukuro a few pages back.

I was so enthralled with his brilliant talent making a ukulele sing like a magic instrument.

Well I got the Live CD and its nothing short of brilliant and very, very well recorded.

The prelude to Lets Dance is just the best there is. Period.
Go get it and be prepared to be amazed!
