bought a cheap phillips dvd727(79$) yesterday at target-lol-any way this thing smokes my toshiba in sound stage and top end clarity, i'm just amazed by the depth.
but the thing makes a whine when discs are loading, not sure if i should return it and get another or move up a few $ for a sacd unit.
not thrilled with the 90 day warranty either

Is the noise the disc starting to spin?  If you like it, I'd take it back and get another.  If that one whines get something else.

If you can double your price I'd check out a hi rez player.

I think 90 days is about it on these players.
