David Bromberg in Atlanta last night

Caught David Bromberg at the Variety Playhouse last night in Atlanta. Superb show. He sang and played acoustic guitar, accompanied by his wife Nancy Josephson on bass and vocals and Mitch Corbin on mandolin and acoustic guitar and vocals. Great sets: folk blues, fiddle tunes, country blues, various styles: Piedmont, Chicago, etc. Wonderful, tender, sublime songs. A real treat. David's voice is still great and his guitar playing seems to be able to convey the emotional aspects of the original songs' performers (Blind Willie McTell, etc.). Highly recommended.  :thumb:

Yes indeed, he's outstanding. I caught his quartet show last year, and I've got tickets to see his "big band" with the horn section in May. Can't wait for that one....  :D

Good going! Wow, David is a long time favorite. Saw him once in San Luis Obispo, CA. at a small club ~ '84, solo acoustic guitar and mic. My girlfriend: "I've never seen anyone like that before". Funky, smart, funny and skilled. Have some of his early vinyl.
Glad he's still going strong, with wife and friends. Very cool.

Good times! I caught him and his Big Band at Merlefest in '06, what a show. Emmylou Harris (and maybe even Allision Kraus) joined him on stage for a couple numbers. He's a great musician and showman, I'd love to see him again.

I've been a big fan for a long time. He's a great artist and, unfortunately, he's not touring the West Coast.

The Variety is a great place to see a show...not only does Steve Harris - the owner - have great taste in music, he's also responsible for helping me to discover some great audio gear. He hits most of the main audio shows and he's a true hybrid audiophile/music lover. I saw one of my favorite musicians, Amos Lee, at the Variety a couple years ago....great show!
