good source for multimeter?
« on: 18 Jan 2009, 08:56 am »
I am looking for a cheap but functional hand held multimeter, mainly for the frequency counter function. Capacitor and inductance would be nice.
I found this Protek 6300 that has a mind-boggling number of functions for $63.

Would I be buying too low on the food chain?

Does anyone have any recommendations for something similar but better? A better source for this type of product?

A Canadian source would be especially welcome - rather not bring things across the border when I don't have to.

Thanks in advance.

It appears to have a frequency counter that goes up to 20,000hz.

Sears has a couple of very good models. Radio Shack should also have some, if cheaper and less complete functionally.
