Not all tube amplifiers are created equal. Just because something has tubes in it doesn't mean it's better than anything else. I have heard tube amps that sounded like solid state amps. What's the point in that? We build tube amplifiers around the positive qualities of each and every component within the amplifier. A properly designed tube amplifier will meet and easily exceed the requirements of any High Definition audio source. Our BHT does exactly that. Classic series amplifiers contain materials dating from between the 1940's and 1960's, otherwise known as the hay day of tube technology. Many of the components used in the BHT are rare. Take for example the Thomas commercial output transformers or the NOS carbon composition resistors. We didn't stop there. Tying it all together is a Baldwin driver stage adopted from one of America's finest tube commercial workhorses. Every tube is NOS as well. Provided are four NOS 50's 6L6 tubes and two NOS General Electric 12AX7 driver tubes. Within the power supply is a vintage St-Shape 5U4 rectifier. Power is provided by a new, oversize Hammond transformer capable of running an 80 watt stereo amplifier easily.

My goal in designing this amplifier was to bring out every detail these vintage parts have to offer. That translates into crystal clear highs, midrange that's accurate with a hint of warmth and deep, rich bass. Another quality witnessed was pure speed. Power demands are met swiftly and easily no matter what ends of the spectrum ask for it. Deep bass and high frequencies coexist with unison. There is plenty of air around instruments, thanks to an accurately projected vertical and horizontal sound stage. Our BHT will convey all the best virtues tube technology has to offer, from both the past and present. According to our watt meter, you will receive a clean 20 watts per channel of full bandwidth audio.

Each and every Classic Series is different because vintage components are difficult to find. Once the BHT is gone...that's it! The production run is over. This is one sweet amplifier that needs a good home.

Did you know that our tube amplifiers, either single ended or push-pull typically use at least 30% fewer components than most popular brand tube amps? That equates to a  less complex signal path or put another way, a path at least 30% straighter than most. The chance of a breakdown is at least 30% lower as well.  Just take a look at the inside photo of the BHT. Simple, direct, efficient designs sound the best, last the longest and sound great.

As time goes by, hand made, point to point wired tube amplifiers hold their value considerably better than solid state amplifiers or tube amplifiers relying on printed circuits. We build our amplifiers to last a long, long time and make them incredibly easy to repair, should the need arise several decades down the road.

NEWS:

All of our amplifiers can come with "HD" upgrades. HD stands for Heavy Duty.
There are several ways to make an HD certified amplifier.

1) Reduced power output (will not effect cost)
2) Bigger power supply (will not effect power output)
3) Bigger output transformers (while keeping the power output the same)
4) Upgraded filter & bypass capacitors

If you notice, the upgrades are designed to eliminate stress by allowing components to run cooler.  Better sound is a benefit, as well as longer tube life. Our HD series can operate 24/7 without ill effects of any kind.

The way our models run, NS-20, etc... the number indicates how many watts per channel the amplifier is rated for. An HD rating does not effect the wattage, only the amplifier's endurance.

Options 1 through 4 above can be done at the same time, or individually. It all depends on what you would like or what I would suggest you use for your application.

I added this news with our BHT listing because the Classic Series BHT has a larger power supply than is necessary as well as slightly reduced power output. The end results are stunning sound quality, cool tubes and a very cool running power supply.

My aim is to please everybody. Typically that would sound like a daunting task- but with the resources at my disposal, there is something forjust about everyone.

The best part is- all it takes is a description of your audio likes/dislikes and a description of your current speaker system and room size. Yes, you may.  Autumn Red is a SUPER big hit now. I think I can get a dark green metallic- but will have to look it up. Just so everybody knows, the NS-20 is very similar to this amp.
