I agree with the JB and Run DMC, not sure on Metallica, and who is Little Anthony???
Jeff Beck was already in....with the Yardbirds....few years ago. Now as a solo artist.
Time for Hip-Hop hall of fame?Run-DMC may not be rock but their influence makes Jeff Beck, Metallica, and Little Anthony look like nothing, even combined.

QuoteRun-DMC may not be rock but their influence makes Jeff Beck, Metallica, and Little Anthony look like nothing, even combined. Are you kidding? If they hadn't done the video with Aerosmith most people wouldn't even have heard about them. 10 years of going to audio shows and I have never, ever heard anyone play anything from Run DMC. I have not even heard them mentioned, ever. In fact 10 years of going to audio shows and I have never heard any rap music played at all. Isn't that what they did?I don't even know of anyone that even owns any Run DMC music. I don't even think I have ever heard them on any radio station in the last 10 or 15 years, and I listen to some type of rock and roll radio station every day. Yet, someone is going to put them in the rock and roll hall of fame?
I think that Aerosmith benefitted as much or more from that collaboration. They were nowhere at the time IIRC.
There is precedence for rap being included; Grandmaster FlashGet used to it, there is a long list of rappers coming that will be inducted; NWA, LL Cool J...
If your gonna induct 80's genre, where is Devo, Depeche Mode, The Cure, Scorpians...Rush anyone? Journey?
which set me back a whole dollar from back when there was a used record store in town.
I own and listen to Run-DMC on my Strata Minis. So, while I didn't bring it up - your crossovers are great with Run-DMC.
oh, and if we didn't have 25 yrs of rock/rap because run-dmc didn't exist...well, what could be wrong with that?
If the Yardbirds are in, Beck doesn't need an additional induction. Therefore, all of the choices are marginal purely in my own opinion.Paul
I have no issue with recognizing success, but those aren't rock bands and having them in a "Rock and Roll" hall of fame seems pretty odd. Let's face it, Run-DMC is about as rock and roll as Willie Nelson.
Aerosmith might not have been doing much at the time but they weren't a nobody like Run-DMC. Aerosmith had sold millions of albums.
Even those are really mixed. Scorpions, Rush, Journey, all huge rock bands. Devo, Depeche Mode? I don't think so. Pop groups, maybe, but they aren't rock and roll.
What tops the list for you guys as most embarrassing CDs to find your buddy listening to?
