Coronet 2 up and running
« on: 11 Jan 2009, 02:31 am »
I got my build finished last night @ about 12 :) and did not let the smoke out of anything!
I have a small issue the led goes green first then red.... :slap:
It is sounding pretty good after about six lp sides (had to work today)
I will be spinnin vinyl all night I know

Thanks Jim Hagerman and Tubesforever!

Ed,

Yeah, the LED is backwards.  I did the same thing on my Cornet2.....never fixed it...still red....oh well, I kinda like it.

Ed, did you get that piece reversed yet?  It is fun to see it go red to green.  Green to Red is ok if you are a Cardinals fan ;-)

So how is it sounding in your system after a week or more play time?  I figure you haven't posted because it is too much fun listening to the C2.

Tube rolling can be so much fun.  Enjoy your C2 and thanks for the kind words.

Cheers!

Thanks Tubes, at this time looks like I'm still backwards :duh:
I thought I might expound on my build.
I used most parts from Jims build sheet except I substituted a black Hammond 8 x 12 x 3 chassis, and short standoffs to allow room for bigger FT-3 caps later. I moved the power switch to the front panel running the power lines down the output side along the bottom of the chassis keeping it away from the board.
Sonicaps in C200,203,206,208
K40Y9’s in 202 and 204
Tubes are Sovtec 5Y3GT, Tungsol 12AX7, JJ 12AU7

The sound is really good and getting better as things settle down and burn in. The bass is wonderful, the sound stage is getting taller and wider, the mids are good, the top seams a little bright at times but the detail is there in spades. Over all a little forward maybe but it needs more time. Tube rolling will most likely bring everything into line for my system.

Cheers
