Sorry Daryl, none of that applies in this situation.I'm referring to Tripath Amps(Trends,Pop Pulse or King Rex) that are used in home audio setups.I'm pretty sure I've read somewhere on the internet that speaker connections have to be reversed when using these amps.
Elementry, my dear Irwin,
You asked a rather non specific question about
a Tripath based amp. Daryl gave you a valid explanation. The configuration he described is also used in the CarverPro ZRxxx series of tripath based amplifiers, for the very specific reasons he mentioned, like the ability to operate as a stereo amplifier and with minimal hassle, a bridged mono amplifier.
Those specific amps you now mention are already bridged amps, by Tripaths specific implementation of that feature in those chip's architecture, single rail BTL (Bridge Tied Load) amps [use Google]. For anyone to produce an inverting (power) amplifier from this architecture, it would be confirmation that they are

, unless....
the Tripath BTL output stage is preceded by a simple inverting voltage gain stage, typically a tube, but it could also be a discrete FET or bipolar transistor stage. As that preceeding stage is inverting, the following Tripath output would be also configured as inverting. Who says 2 wrongs can't make a right?
FWIW,
Paul
